On August 7, 2019, the 7th day of July in lunar calendar and also known as the "Chinese Valentine's Day", UIB Postpartum Center organized a breast feeding seminar in conjunction with EverBetter OB/GYN Hospital.
According to data released by China Development and Research Foundation in 2019, only 29.9% of new mothers could adopt breast cancer for various reasons, for example insufficient milk, mammitis and blockage. Many of them give up breast feeding for lack of understanding or misinformation on breast feeding.
Doctors from UIB Postpartum Center and EverBetter answered a lot of questions from new moms. Doctor Zhang pointed out the best "teacher" of breast feeding is the baby, although many families tend to spend lots of many to hire professional "breast feeding trainers".
Wang Yan, director of nursing department of UIB Postpartum Center, gave tips on how the nursing team could support the new moms by appropriate scheduling of feeding times, diet and close observation of baby's reactions.
EverBetter and UIB experts also pointed out fathers play an important role in taking care of babies during the lactation.
